Project Spotlight: Paws Pet Resort
Kingdom Capital Fund proudly supports faithful organizations with a heart for service. We are excited to share the following story with you. It spotlights one of the amazing organizations we have partnered with on a project — Paws Pet Resort.
Leadercast 2015 fell on a Friday. The one-day event aims to inspire business leaders and features a variety of speakers and education. Tucked into that day’s program was a video profile showcasing a company founded with the purpose of supporting charities.
Watching that short snippet, Jeanine Lubben immediately recognized that she was meant to be there just to hear that message. Over the next months and years, the idea that video planted eventually grew into Paws Pet Resort.
Embracing her mission, a group of local Christian leaders recognized the opportunity to support a business that aligned with their vision of making a Kingdom impact. With their assistance, Jeanine and Vince successfully secured the land they needed at a very reasonable price. This pivotal step propelled them forward in their mission to create a lasting impact in the world.
Paws Pet Resort opened for business in early 2018 and, true to the direction she felt God had given her, Jeanine faithfully dedicated $5 from every pet boarding to charity — a plan that her husband had some reservations about.
“It’s as though the Lord put it all on me at once. It’s going to be a pet resort, here’s what you’ll call it, and you should give $5 for every stay away to local and global organizations,” says Jeanine, who had spent a lot of time on market research and prayer following her encounter at Leadercast. “Vince tried to talk me into using a percentage instead, but I wouldn’t be swayed. He’s now glad I wasn’t!”
After only a year, Jeanine realized the need for pet daycare in Sioux Falls was even bigger than they had anticipated. So, she set to work expanding Paws’ footprint to meet the demand. By this time, she and Vince had become familiar with Kingdom Capital Fund through the Christian leaders who initially connected them with the land. They were intrigued by how they could partner with KCF during their expansion in a way that would benefit the Kingdom.
Bypassing a traditional builder-contractor relationship, Paws Pet Resort took a unique path by partnering with Kingdom Capital Fund (KCF) for the expansion project. KCF was able to mobilize donated services and goods from others in the construction industry, resulting in substantial cost savings. In turn, those savings were directed to benefit the Christ-centered organizations that Kingdom Capital Fund supports locally and globally. And, Paws Pet Resort received the necessary building space to grow and further its support for vital charities. Their expansion opened in 2020.
Paws Pet Resort recently turned five years old, and as part of the anniversary celebration, the dog-centric business is building a home for a family in Haiti and has, to date, given over $300,000 to local and international charities. When the $400,000 raised for KCF’s ministry partners through the expansion project is added, that’s more than $700,000 to further the Kingdom of God!
In Christ,
