Care Campaign
It is heartbreaking to watch the images of children and mothers walking across the border with hardly anything as they look for safety. We know that God cares about refugees. We see it regularly in the Old Testament, where God commands the nation of Israel to consistently care for the foreigner as if they are their own. In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that those who call him Lord will invite the stranger in, and in a miraculous way, we will be interacting with Jesus by our care for the stranger. How can we care right now for those who are strangers or refugees? Join the Care Campaign. It’s an initiative to raise funds as we resource churches and ministries on the front lines caring for people in or near Ukraine. We have $140,000 committed from Kingdom Capital Fund leadership and our desire is to see it double. Please consider a special gift to help us reach our goal of $280,000 to care for refugees.
The need is real and immediate. For example, the first church we have been working with, in Chelm Poland, is a congregation of about 80 people. Yet, they have been providing care for as many as 600 people a day that are entering their community. They need resources to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a difficult situation. We have been able to have direct conversation with those church leaders to hear how they will be using the funds and understand their exact needs.
How will the funds be used? The focus is to provide a strategic and accountable way for people to support churches or ministries that are caring for refugees in or near Ukraine. We have a Ministry Support Committee that will oversee the distribution of funds as we discern needs from conversations with Pastors and leaders working directly with refugees. The funds will not all be dispersed at once, but instead, as they are needed for supplies, etc. We recognize that there will be a lot of money given immediately, however, the need will be for a longer period of time.
