Intentional Giving
It’s that time of year when there is a lot of focus on giving. Christmas is the celebration of God’s greatest gift to us, His Son Jesus. The end of the year is also a time when many of us do our annual giving. There are lots of requests this time of year and it can be a little overwhelming at times, to discern where to allocate our resources.
I’d like to encourage all of us to do an intentional review of our giving at year-end, to see if we are in alignment with God’s overarching plan. The plan of God is for the Good News of Jesus to be shared to those who are geographically near us along with those who are far from us. In Acts we hear Jesus give His final instructions to the disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)” We also see a vision in Revelation chapter five where the description of those gathering around the throne giving God praise come from every tribe and every language.
Over the last ten years we have distributed over 3.9 million dollars to ministry and there has been great intentionality to make sure we are in alignment with God’s overarching plan of doing ministry locally and globally.
One of the big benefits of being a partner with us at Kingdom Capital Fund is the level of intentionality given to where your resources will make the biggest impact. We have a Ministry Support Committee that looks at each ministry to determine if they are doing significant work, strategic work, are accountable and are led by the Holy Spirit. When you are in partnership with Kingdom Capital Fund you can be certain that we are diligently seeking God’s direction and being very intentional with the funds we distribute to support ministry.
There are two questions that I hear frequently when talking with people about giving and the ministries that we support. Oftentimes I hear something like, “Shouldn’t we be taking care of those in our own back yard?” We answer with a loud, YES. I also hear, “Shouldn’t we be using our resources where we can stretch the dollar further?” We answer with a loud, YES. It’s not an either-or answer but rather the answer is both. We should be engaged in supporting the work of God here locally and also the work of God globally. We need to be intentional and diligent in doing good work right in our own back yard and also across the ocean.
Thank you for taking some time to reflect upon God’s overarching plan and your giving. Enclosed with this newsletter is an envelope, if you would like to make a gift to the work of Kingdom Capital Fund at year-end. Your gift will be diligently used to support the plan of God in sharing the good news locally and also globally. I would enjoy having a cup of coffee or lunch to discuss how you can be intentional with your giving. Feel free to reach out via email or phone. May God pour out His joy to you and your family this Christmas season.
